President Bush to recognize Sedalia Citizen Corps Volunteer for Dedication to Volunteer Service |
|
President George W. Bush will meet Tim Mosier when he arrives in St. Louis,
Missouri, on Monday, November 4. Mosier is a longtime law enforcement and
emergency response professional who volunteers his time to organize and assist
with citizen preparedness.
In his State of the Union address, President Bush called on all Americans to
dedicate at least two years over their lifetime in service to their communities,
our country and the world. President Bush is recognizing individuals around the
country who are answering the call to service and will recognize Mosier as an
example of the dedication to service he is hoping to instill in all Americans
through his USA Freedom Corps initiative.
Throughout his career, Mosier has volunteered in Pettis County by teaching
local groups emergency response and preparedness skills. In addition, Mosier
works with the American Red Cross on disaster response, blood drives and CPR
training. He also helps the Salvation Army and Open Door with food, clothing and
money collection drives.
Through his work with the Emergency Management Agency of Pettis County,
Mosier has organized and recruited volunteers to assist law enforcement
officials with storm spotting, traffic control and damage assessment. He is
currently working to recruit and train seniors to participate in the new Citizen
Corps program for Pettis County. The first group of 20 volunteers has just
finished training to protect the local water supply, electrical substations,
public and private communication towers and above-ground pipelines.
President Bush created the USA Freedom Corps office at the White House to
foster an American culture of service, citizenship and responsibility. Through
the USA Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American answer the
call to service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities to protect
our homeland, support our communities and extend American compassion around the
world. Interested volunteers can find information on the USA Freedom Corps at
www.usafreedomcorps.gov or
by calling 1-877-USA-Corps.
