The ad got my attention immediately. I could not have written a better job description for myself. I work with AmeriCorps State Park Partners in Delaware as a volunteer coordinator. I am the first full-time volunteer coordinator at the Killens Pond State Park, so my job duties have been written as I go. For example, after our park naturalist took on a full-time teaching position and was unavailable to manage the Learn and Serve program she began, I took over the program.
It has been a challenging and rewarding experience, and I have gained knowledge, training, and personal fulfillment.
The members of our group are all terrific. I know that there are people who will remain in my heart and life. This is a new program, and we are changing the way volunteers impact the park. I am proud to be part of a team that is breaking new ground. |
