Course
Information:
This course
is designed for communities and regional and State agencies that
are participating in the development of Digital Flood Insurance
Rate Maps (DFIRMs) as part of the Cooperating Technical Partners
(CTP) Program. The Advanced CTP course is designed to address new
technology in order to give CTPs and advanced level of technical
training on how to create a DFIRM. This information is taught in
a computer lab environment that includes lecture and many hands-on
activities. Examples of topics include topographic data development,
base mapping and digital flood maps, and map production and processing
procedures. At the conclusion of this course, participants will
be aware of FEMA’s guidelines and specifications for submitting
digital data and be exposed to digital tools used to create a DFIRM.
Participant Selection Criteria:
Federal, State,
tribal and local staff responsible for creating DFIRMs as part of
the CTP program. The course is intended for current CTPs who are
active mapping partners and who are responsible for creating digital
data. This is NOT a management course.
Prerequisites:
Participants
must have signed a Partnership Agreement and Mapping Activity Statement
with FEMA to be eligible to attend this course. Applicants who are
in the process of signing a Mapping Activity Statement will be considered
on a case-by-case basis.
Recommendation:
This is a technical
course. Participants applying should be those responsible for creating
digital data and be familiar with ERSI’s ArcGIS Suite.
To Apply:
A FEMA Form
75-5 (General Admission Application) should be submitted to the
State emergency management training office. FEMA regional employees
should submit the application to their Regional Training Manager.
