Course Description: This course is designed to train participants on FEMA’s Coastal Construction Manual. This manual is the primary, state-of-the-art reference for planning, designing, and constructing residential structures in the various coastal environments.
Course Goal:
1. Re-enforce coastal residential construction practices.
2. Maintain use of current emergency management hazard mitigation techniques or civil engineering practices.
3. Build partnerships among the State and other
disaster response and recovery organizations.
4. Teach applications of interpersonal skills to develop positive working relationships.
Prerequisite:
Basic algebra and percentage mathematics, and experience with Coastal Residential Construction Practices, Emergency Management Hazard Mitigation Techniques, or Civil Engineering course. Participants should take IS-393.A, Introduction to Hazard Mitigation.
Course Length:
4 full days. Travel days are Sunday and Friday. |
Target Audience:
Engineers, architects and building code officials. Floodplain management, hazard mitigation, planning, and building officials with building science knowledge may apply.
CEUs:
EMI awards 2.9 CEUs for completion of this course.
