Course: E362 Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools Train-the-Trainer

Date:  August 4-7, 2008

Course Description:
This course provides participants with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to develop effective all-hazards emergency operations plans for school emergencies.  The course focuses on the phases of emergency management and explains how to use the Incident Command System (ICS) as the foundation for a school emergency plan.  By using ICS, school personnel will be able to coordinate their emergency activities with outside agencies in response to any situation.

Course Goal:

  1. Establish priorities through joint action planning with disaster response and recovery partners.
  2. Build partnerships among the State and other
    disaster response and recovery organizations.
  3. Apply skills to develop positive working relationships.

Prerequisite:
None
 
Course Length:
4 full days. Travel days are Sunday and Friday.

Target Audience:

School Resource Officer (SRO)/Law Enforcement (1), Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Public Health (1), Emergency Management personnel (1), and 5 of the following:  Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent; Risk Manager; School Security

Official, School Safety Coordinator, or School Safety Team Member; Transportation Coordinator; Principal or Vice-Principal; Facility Manager/Building Engineer; Counselor/Psychologist; Food Service Coordinator; or Nurse. 

CEUs:
EMI awards 2.9 CEUs for completion of this course.

National Emergency Training Center, Emergency Management Institute, Emmitsburg, Maryland.

SCHOOL DISTRICT TEAM SHOULD APPLY.  Submit applications as a “package” using the attached as a cover sheet.  Complete a FEMA Form 75-5, General Admissions Application, with student signature and signature of supervisor or sponsoring agency official. Submit the applications through the State emergency management training office who will fax them to the National Emergency Training Center Admissions Office at (301) 447-1658.
