Oklahoma City, OK -- "Local officials in Oklahoma don't need to fear being left alone to deal with the aftermath of the Christmas ice storm just because things are happening in other parts of the country," said Moises Dugan, FEMA deputy federal coordinating Officer. "We still have plenty of personnel in place in Oklahoma to help government officials with their recovery efforts," he added.
FEMA employees will still be in Oklahoma for the foreseeable future working with state and local officials, helping their communities get reimbursed for costs incurred in the aftermath of the ice storms between Christmas and January 10.
FEMA and state representatives will continue working with each community expressing an interest in receiving reimbursement. Since then, they have been working one--on--one with representatives of the local communities.
Even after the Disaster Field Office in Oklahoma City closes as a normal, routine matter, local officials will be able to work with Oklahoma's Department of Civil Emergency Management in Oklahoma City, and with FEMA Region VI Headquarters in Denton, Texas.
