Initial Claims
Due to the volume of traffic
to CUBLine Online and Internet Initial Claims, claimants may
experience intermittent slowness when filing an unemployment
claim online. Callers to the UI Benefits Line (303) 318-9000
with a specific question about their claim may experience
extended wait times up to an hour. For answers to commonly
asked questions and information on Extended Unemployment
Compensation please check the
Unemployment Insurance Claim Self Service Resource Guide.

Extension of Emergency
Unemployment Compensation
President Bush has signed into
law a bill that provides up to seven additional weeks of
Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) to eligible,
unemployed individuals. The first payable week for this
extension of EUC is the week of November 23–29, 2008. The
Customer Contact Center is currently experiencing high call
volumes and callers are experiencing long wait times. Detailed
information is available on the
EUC Web page. If you review the
EUC Web page, you may find answers to your questions and
eliminate the need to call the Customer Contact Center. The
Colorado Department of Labor and Employment will contact all
potentially eligible individuals with filing instructions and
will update the
EUC Web page with new information.
Direct Deposit Announcement
In January 2009 the
Unemployment Insurance (UI) Program will offer direct deposit as
an alternative payment method to the Chase Bank Visa™ debit
card, the
Colorado Automated Payment (CAP) Card. When you choose
direct deposit as your payment method for UI benefits, the UI
Program electronically deposits UI benefits directly to an
existing checking or savings account of your choice. Once direct
deposit becomes available, you must request direct deposit as
your payment method or the UI Program will continue to deposit
your UI benefit payments to your
CAP Card. More information, including a Payment Selection
Web page, will be made available in January 2009.

Attention:
The Unemployment Insurance (UI)
Program deposits all benefit payments directly to the Colorado Automated
Payment (CAP) Card. The UI Program through its agent Chase Bank (Chase)
issues the CAP Card. By filing an initial claim or reopening an existing
claim for UI benefits, you automatically authorize the UI Program to
release to Chase the information necessary to deposit payments to your
CAP Card. For more information about the CAP Card, click on
Colorado Automated Payment (CAP) Card. To contact Chase Customer
Service, call the number on the back of your CAP Card or visit
www.chase.com. For detailed information on your CAP Card account,
