E174 - Advanced HAZUS-Multi-Hazard for Earthquake

Course Description:

This course is designed to provide in-depth instruction on the use of HAZUS-MH for advanced applications related to earthquake-loss modeling. The Earthquake Model provides loss estimates of damage and loss to buildings, essential facilities, transportation lifelines, and utility lifelines, and population based on scenario or probabilistic earthquakes. The model addresses debris generation, fire-following, casualties and shelter requirements. Direct losses are estimated based on physical damage to structures, contents, inventory, and building interiors.

Selection Criteria:

State, local, and tribal emergency managers and GIS specialists, state and local planners, regional personnel with responsibility for earthquake mitigation and response activities, and other federal agencies with risk assessment responsibilities.

Recommended:
• A strong working knowledge of ArcGIS
• Basic HAZUS-MH (E313)
