RFP released for Heartwood Web development
The Southwest Virginia Cultural Heritage Commission invites proposals to provide Web site design and development services for Heartwood, Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Gateway. Heartwood is a gateway that encompasses Southwest Virginia’s cultural heritage venues, attractions, and initiatives.  This Request For Proposals (RFP) is intended for experienced Web site design and development firms that can design and build a site to inspire travelers from all over the world to both go deeper into the site and the region.

The site will be a primary marketing tool that allows visitors, travelers, Web surfers, studio artisans, musicians, local venues and students to plan their travel and experience Southwest Virginia.  It will promote artisans, musicians, and the communities of a 19 county region of Southwest Virginia by delivering a strong message to potential visitors on the region’s culture, history, natural gifts, and rural charm.  The site will convey the region as among the world’s best regional destinations and interface seamlessly with several other cultural organizations and the Virginia Tourism Web site.

Virginia Neighborhood Stabilization Program
The new Neighborhood Stabilization Program will provide emergency assistance to state and local governments to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight within their communities. Funds will be used to purchase foreclosed or abandoned homes and to rehabilitate, resell, or redevelop these homes in order to stabilize neighborhoods and stem the decline of house values of neighboring homes.
