Committees and Task ForcesCommittee on AppropriationsThe House Appropriations Committee prepares the annual spending bills for Congress by allocating the budget among all government programs. The committee has 66 members and is divided into 10 subcommittees responsible for drafting legislation that distributes funding among the programs within its jurisdiction. Subcommittee on Energy and Water DevelopmentAs a member of the Subcommittee on Energy and Water, Congressman Berry works with his colleagues to fund projects that improve the nation's water infrastructure, expand economic development in the Mississippi Delta region, and further research and technological improvements in our energy industry. The Subcommittee has jurisdiction over the Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Energy, and the Delta Regional Authority. Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans AdministrationAs a member of the Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Administration and Related Agencies, Congressman Berry works to fulfill our nation’s obligation to America’s servicemen and women, their families and our veterans. The Subcommittee has jurisdiction over projects such as Base Realignment and Closure Accounts, the Department of the VA and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Subcommittee on TransportationAs a member of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, Congressman Berry works to strengthen our nation's highways, railways, and public transportation systems. He also appropriates funding for a variety of economic development and housing programs. The Subcommittee has jurisdiction over all programs in the Department of Transportation and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Committee on BudgetAs a member of the House Budget Committee, Congressman Berry plays a key role in managing the annual federal budget. The committee's work begins in early February when the President submits his budget request to Congress. The committee then holds a series of hearings to produce an annual budget resolution to guide federal spending for the coming year.
