WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) announced today that the city of Salemwill receive a $10,000 Rural Development grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The funds will be used to purchase a new law enforcement vehicle.
“As first responders, local law enforcement units play an integral role in keeping our communities safe,” Lincoln said. “These federal dollars will allow the city of Salem to continue to provide the best possible service for residents.”
“Every second counts in the event of an emergency,” said Pryor. “This new vehicle will ensure Salem first responders can quickly get to the scene of an accident and provide lifesaving support.”
“Our law enforcement must have up-to-date tools and equipment to do their jobs well,” said Berry. “I’m proud of the officials of the city of Salem for working to secure this funding, which will greatly benefit the local community.”
USDA Rural Development grants support public facilities and services, promote economic development, and offer technical assistance to help address the diverse and unique needs of rural communities.
