Lincoln, Pryor, Berry Announce Funding for Mountain View

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) announced today that the city of Mountain View will receive a $100,000 Rural Development grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  The city will also receive a loan of $350,000. The funds will be used to replace the city’s ambulance facility, which was destroyed by a tornado earlier this year.

“As first responders, local ambulance units play an integral role in keeping our communities safe,” Lincoln said. “These federal dollars will allow the city of Mountain View to continue to provide the best possible service for residents as the community rebuilds after February’s devastating tornado.”

“Mountain View first responders put their lives on the line in order to meet the needs of local residents after a deadly tornado ripped through Arkansas this year,” said Pryor.  “It is only fitting these funds should be used to replace their ambulance facility so that they can effectively address future emergencies.”

“Although the city of Mountain View was struck by tragedy, the community continues to work hard to rebuild their lives,” said Berry.  “This funding to construct the new ambulance facility is one of the many success stories that will come from Mountain View and the other communities across Arkansas that were struck by tornados.  I am proud of the local residents for dedicating their time and energy to ensure their community becomes a better place to work and raise a family.”

USDA Rural Development grants support public facilities and services, promote economic development, and offer technical assistance to help address the diverse and unique needs of rural communities.
