Lincoln, Pryor, and Berry Announce Rural Development Funds for Jackson County

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) today announced that the Independence-Jackson Regional Water Users Association will receive a $681,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program. The Association also will receive a $581,000 loan from USDA.  The funding will be used to rehabilitate the treatment plant, provide back up generators and add 44 new users to the current water system.

"These federal dollars will help provide critical water infrastructure improvements for the people of Jackson County," said Lincoln.  “I applaud the Independence-Jackson Regional Water Users Association for working to secure this significant investment that will support growth in this rural area of Arkansas.”

“Updating the sewer system is vital to the health and economic well-being of Jackson County residents,” said Pryor. “I applaud local leaders for seeking these funds and ensuring that critical investments in our infrastructure are completed.”

"This money will provide the Independence-Jackson Regional Water Users Association they resources they need to upgrade their current infrastructure," said Berry.  "I commend the Association for seeking out this vital funding, which will greatly benefit the residents of Jackson County."

USDA Rural Development grants support public facilities and services, promote economic development, and offer technical assistance to help address the diverse and unique needs of rural communities.
