Lincoln, Pryor, and Berry Announce Rural Development Funds for Horseshoe Bend

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) today announced that the city of Horseshoe Bend will receive a $159,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program.  The city also will receive a $271,000 loan from USDA.  These funds will be used to construct a new sewer treatment plant. The new plant will add 910 new users to the existing system.

“These federal dollars will help provide critical water infrastructure improvements for the people of Horseshoe Bend,” said Lincoln.  “I commend local leaders for working to secure this significant Rural Development investment.”

“Expanding Horseshoe Bend’s wastewater treatment services will significantly benefit local residents and businesses,” said Pryor.   “This funding is an excellent example of how local, state and federal officials can work together to address important rural infrastructure needs of Northeast Arkansas.”

“For job growth and economic development to continue in Arkansas, we must ensure our infrastructure is safe and well maintained,” said Berry. “This new treatment plant will provide the residents of Horseshoe Bend clean water for their homes and businesses and I commend the local officials for seeking this funding, which will greatly benefit the community.”

USDA Rural Development grants support public facilities and services, promote economic development, and offer technical assistance to help address the diverse and unique needs of rural communities.
