WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) recently announced that Augusta High School will receive $200,440 under the Literacy & School Libraries Program from the United States Department of Education. The funding will be used to provide students with increased access to up-to-date school library materials, a well-equipped technologically advanced school library media center, and well-trained, professionally certified school library media specialists to improve literacy skills and achievement of students.
“Education is the key to success for Arkansas’s young people, and this funding will allow students in Augusta to access the resources they need to compete in today’s world,” said Lincoln. “I’m proud to see the Augusta community receive this support from our federal government.”
“Literacy swings open the doors for a lifetime of learning,” said Pryor. “These funds will ensure Augusta High School students have the very best equipment and staff in order to achieve their personal and professional goals.”
