WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) today announced that the town of Alicia will receive a $75,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program. The city also will receive a $75,000 loan from USDA. These funds will be used to complete rehabilitation work on an existing elevated water storage tank.
“These federal dollars will help provide critical water improvements for the people of Alicia,” said Lincoln. “I commend local leaders for working to secure this significant Rural Development investment.”
“If properly maintained, elevated water tanks are a safe, reliable source of water,” said Pryor. “I’m pleased we can send these federal dollars to support Alicia’s water infrastructure, which will better serve residents and help ensure future development.”
“Access to clean water is essential for any community to thrive and grow,” said Berry. “These federal dollars will give the residents of Alicia a fully-functional water storage tank and I commend local officials for working to secure funding for this essential project.”
USDA Rural Development grants support public facilities and services, promote economic development, and offer technical assistance to help address the diverse and unique needs of rural communities. |
