Arkansas Lawmakers Announce $399,722 For ASU-Mountain Home

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representative Marion Berry (AR-01) recently announced that Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) will be awarded $399,722 through the Strengthening Institutions Program operated by the United States Department of Education. It is anticipated that this grant will be for a total of 5 years. The funding will be used to provide academic support for college-preparatory students, offer on-campus/online student services, and create high-demand online courses currently not available at ASUMH.  The program will also provide faculty and staff with training and development to ensure curriculum is delivered effectively.

“Access to a quality education is critical for building a bright future,” said Lincoln.  “With these funds, residents of Mountain Home and surrounding areas will have a greater opportunity to pursue their educational goals. In addition, ASU-Mountain Home will be able to increase enrollment and more effectively meet the needs of their students.”

“ASU Mountain Home excels at keeping the doors of education and opportunity wide open,” said Pryor.  “This well-deserved grant will allow more students of all ages and backgrounds to benefit from their programs and contribute to the well-being of North Central Arkansas.”

"This grant will allow ASU-Mountain Home to build on their already superior academic standards to better serve their students and the local community," said Berry. "The key to success is through education and these funds will provide students with the tools they need to achieve their goals."

ASUMH is a two-year affiliate of the Arkansas State University System serving the Mountain Home community.  More than 1,600 students attend ASUMH each year.
