U.S. Congressman Berry participates in a roundtable with his House colleagues and delegates from the White House Conference on Aging to discuss strategies for reforming the new Medicare Prescription Drug benefit. The group endorsed Congressman Berry's legislation, H.R. 752, which would create a Medicare-administered drug plan and allow the Secretary to negotiate for lower drug prices on behalf of America's seniors. Congressman Berry participates in a press conference with the Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, Bob Goodlatte, and the President of the American Soybean Association, Bob Metz, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of biotechnology. As a co-chair of the House Biotechnology Caucus, Congressman Berry works to educate others on the benefits of biotechnology in agriculture and medicine.

Congressman Berry joins fellow lawmakers from rural states to launch a new campaign to protect Social Security for rural America. After the press conference, the Congressman traveled to Ohio and Indiana to hold town hall forums about the dangers of Social Security privatization.

Congressman Berry reads from the Old Testament of the Bible in honor of the National Day of Prayer. Volunteers and fellow Members of Congress participated in the bible reading marathon which lasted for four days in front of the U.S. Capitol.

Congressman Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) signs a banner in the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. The hospital is located only 10 minutes up the road from Ramstein Air Base and is the largest American hospital outside the United States. Visitors to the hospital sign the banner as a show of respect, gratitude and well wishes for the patients and the staff. (August 12, 2004)

On a beautiful afternoon in April, Rep. Berry participated in the annual Bible read-a-thon, by reading a passage from II Chronicles on the West Front of the United States Capitol in Washington, DC. The annual three-day event, in which the Bible is read aloud cover-to-cover, is a prelude to the National Day of Prayer on May 1st.
