Says Economy, Job Creation Still Top Concerns for Randolph

Roanoke, Ala.  -  The American economy appears to be making a comeback but more new jobs must be created, especially in Randolph County, U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers said Wednesday in a tour of Roanoke Electronic Controls Engineering.

“We’re making progress on the economy but too many folks are still out of work,” Rogers said. “It’s important we continue to find ways to grow the local economy so businesses in Randolph County can thrive.”

Rogers made the comments Wednesday in a tour of the Roanoke manufacturing facility. The plant, which designs and manufactures custom designed electronic controls and digital displays for major equipment manufacturers throughout North America, has been in business since 2000. Specific products made in Roanoke include controls for bus air conditioning units and fitness equipment.

“We certainly appreciate Congressman Rogers taking the time to talk with us,” said Hutch Hammond, Roanoke Control’s Vice President of Operations.

Rogers’ visit to Roanoke was his second in the past several weeks, having previously met in early December with Mayor Betty Ziglar and several other local officials to discuss local economic issues.
