Rogers Testifies on Montgomery
Outer Loop, Riverwalk
Congressman Tells Committee Montgomery
Projects are Top Priorities

Washington, DC -
Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Saks) testified before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee yesterday, telling Congress his top Montgomery priorities are to reduce congestion and help revitalize downtown.

“Montgomery has seen explosive growth along its eastern and southern boundaries,” Rogers said before the committee. “The Outer Loop will help relieve congestion on area roads and make travel safer for motorists passing through the city.”
Funding for the Outer Loop, as well as the continued revitalization of downtown, are some of the top priorities of Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright. Rogers said he and Bright have been working closely to get these projects funded, and is confident his priorities will receive funding.
“Mayor Bobby Bright has some great ideas for Montgomery, like the Riverwalk project downtown, that will do much to increase the area’s already high quality of life,” Rogers said. “I am excited to be able to take the lead on these projects in Washington.”
The Outer Loop is projected to cost $220 million and connect Interstates 85 and 65. Construction has started on parts of the project, and Rogers foresees obtaining money for the rest of the highway in segments.
Rogers requested $9.2 million this year for the $14.7 million Riverwalk project.
