Author Patricia O'Toole To Speak at Library of Congress on Tuesday, December 8

Patricia O'Toole, author of the critically acclaimed Money and Morals in America: A History (Clarkson Potter, 1998) and The Five of Hearts: An Intimate Portrait of Henry Adams and His Friends, 1880-1918 (Clarkson Potter, 1990), will present a talk at the Library on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 6:00 p.m. in the West Dining Room on the sixth floor of the Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E. Another in the "Books & Beyond" author series, the presentation is free and open to the public. This series is supported by the Center for the Book.

"Patricia O'Toole will talk about her books and about her approach to writing, particularly how she creates her own blend of history, biography, and cultural criticism," said Center for the Book Director John Y. Cole. Ms. O'Toole's The Five of Hearts was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and for the National Book Critics Circle Award.

The Center for the Book in the Library of Congress was established in 1977 to stimulate public interest in books, reading, and libraries. For information about the center's activities and publications, visit its site on the World Wide Web at: www.loc.gov/loc/cfbook.
