Douglas Wilson to Speak About Lincoln Feb. 24 December 29, 1997

Douglas L. Wilson, the author of three recent books about Abraham Lincoln, will speak about Lincoln at the Library of Congress at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Mumford Room on the sixth floor of the James Madison Memorial Building. His talk, "The Young Abraham Lincoln -- What's New?," is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress as part of its "Books & Beyond" author lecture series.

Wilson's new books about Lincoln are: Honor's Voice: The Transformation of Abraham Lincoln, to be published by Alfred A. Knopf on Feb. 12, 1998; Herndon's Informants: Letters, Interviews, and Statements about Abraham Lincoln (University of Illinois Press, 1997); and Lincoln Before Washington: New Perspectives on the Illinois Years (University of Illinois Press, 1997). Honor's Voice and Herndon's Informants draw heavily on the Herndon papers at the Library of Congress. Douglas L. Wilson is Director of the International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello.

His many books include, with James Gilreath, Thomas Jefferson's Library: A Catalog of the Entries in His Own Order (Library of Congress, 1989).
