Schumer, Clinton Announce Over $196,000 for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority

Federal funds will be used to enhance safety by constructing easements for obstruction removal at the Niagara Falls International Airport

Washington, DC - U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded $196,277 in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) funds to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA). The funds will be used to enhance safety by constructing easements for obstruction removal at the Niagara Falls International Airport.

"This is great news for Western New York," said Schumer. "The construction at the Niagara Falls International Airport will increase efficiency and safety for passengers and employees. These improvements are important for local businesses and for strengthening the local economy in the region. I will continue to fight for federal funds to help the airport remain a thriving center of activity and a hub for economic growth in the region."

"This funding will provide Niagara Falls International Airport the means to maintain hazard-free facilities and infrastructure. Not only does this provide safety for passengers but allows for continued air traffic, which is good for business and economic development," said Senator Clinton.

Federal funds will used to construct easements to allow access to current obstructions and prevent them from recurring. The construction is necessary to allow for removal of trees and enhance airport safety.
