KERRY, KENNEDY, MARKEY ANNOUNCE WOBURN COMPANY TO RECEIVE $1.35 MILLION COAST GUARD CONTRACT

BOSTON – Senators John Kerry and Edward Kennedy today, along with Congressman Edward Markey, announced that Lumus Construction, Inc of Woburn has been awarded at $1.35 million contract from the United States Coast Guard. The contract includes miscellaneous asphalt and concrete repair work at the United States Coast Guard Academy.

“Our young men and women of the Coast Guard need the best possible working and training environment and I’m proud that a Woburn company was chosen to make sure the Academy stays in tip top shape. Winning a competitively rewarded contract is another reminder that Massachusetts can compete and win when it comes to delivering the best possible services for our military,” said Senator Kerry.

Melissa Wagoner, a spokeswoman for Senator Kennedy said, "Senator Kennedy congratulates Lumus Construction for winning this contract. He's confident they'll continue the outstanding Massachusetts tradition of able work and strong support for the Coast Guard and the United States Armed Services."

Rep. Markey said, “I congratulate Lumus Construction, Inc. on having been awarded this important contract to improve the site of our nation’s Coast Guard Academy. Lumus’ reputation for high-quality, dependable work at such recognizable public sites as Charlestown’s Bunker Hill monument and the Statue of Liberty make it no surprise that it has been chosen. Nothing is more important than providing our servicemen and women with superior facilities in which to train and learn. I am extremely proud that this Woburn-based small business has been chosen to do the job.”

The work will consist mainly of removal of existing asphalt and concrete paving, base and sub-base preparation for asphalt and concrete paving, pavement markings, curbs, sidewalks, gutters and other related repairs.
