BOSTON – Senator John Kerry today made the following statement on the Senate’s override of President Bush’s veto of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). The vote was 79-14 allowed the $23 billion bill to be enacted into law over the President’s objections. “Today’s vote overriding the Bush veto was a huge victory for cities and towns in Massachusetts. From dealing with the devastation of flooding in Peabody, to the restoration of Milford Pond, to supporting waterfront development projects on the North Shore and on Cape Cod, these investments will help complete critical environmental projects, and will protect public safety,” said Kerry. The House voted 361-54 to override the veto on Tuesday. ###
