BOSTON – Senator John Kerry today announced that Massachusetts would receive $11,941,698 as part of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The funding will help assist low income homeowners and renters meet energy-related needs this fall and winter. “This money is a lifeline for many Massachusetts families during cold hard winters. No one should have to worry where their next meal is coming from or risk going without medical care just so they can heat their homes. Unfortunately, without LIHEAP many senior citizens and low income families would have to make those painful choices every winter. These funds will help thousands of families keep the heat on this winter,” said Senator Kerry. The funding is part of $131 million in emergency assistance being award throughout the country. ###
