John Kerry on 9/11 Commission Giving Washington Failing Grade on Homeland Security
WASHINGTON – Senator John Kerry (D – Mass.) made the following statement today on the 9/11 Commission’s final report released today:

“The condemnation of the 9/11 Commission is no mere report card. It is most damning that the government barely received a passing grade in keeping weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of terrorists, which should be our top national security priority.
“More than four years after the September 11th terrorist attacks, Washington continues to fail our country. American security, our safety, and the lives of our people depend on Washington getting homeland security right. Time and again homeland security experts have made perfectly clear what it takes to make America safe at home, but Washington is still failing to do the basics.”
