Senator John Kerry on BRAC Commission’s Decision on Otis and Barnes Air National Guard Bases

OTIS AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE - Today Senator John Kerry participated in a press conference on the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission’s decision to close Otis Air National Guard Base and replace the A-10 fighter planes at Barnes Air National Guard Base with 18 F-15 fighters.
Below is Senator Kerry’s statement on the BRAC Commission’s decision on Otis and Barnes Air National Guard Bases:
"The Commission's decision makes no sense. I will continue to explore congressional and legal options to keep Otis open and keep the A-10s at Barnes. The Fighter Wings at Otis and Barnes are superb units that play a critical role in our defense and homeland security. I'm also concerned that the Commission's decision will undermine the ability of the Coast Guard to continue their life-saving work out of Otis."
