John Kerry on Retirement of Senator Jim Jeffords
Below is a statement from Senator John Kerry on Senator Jim Jeffords’ (I-Vt.) announcement that he will not seek reelection:

“This quiet, thoughtful man embodies true political courage. Jim Jeffords put everything on the line acting out of deep personal conviction when he declared his independence, and endured the personal attacks that followed with grace and dignity. As a passionate advocate for children, a committed environmentalist, and a guardian of fiscal responsibility, Jim has always followed his own moral compass.
