Joint PCC SCT/CCS SAC Task Force on Library of Congress Classification Training
The PCC Policy Committee and the ALCTS CCS Executive Committee charge the
Joint PCC/CCS Task Force on Library of Congress Classification Training to:
- Evaluate existing training materials for the effective use of Library of
Congress classification
- Identify a potential audience for the training
- Determine the comprehensiveness of course materials
- Develop an outline of topics to be covered in the course
- Prepare or contract out the development of course materials for authoritative,
standardized training in the use of LC classification
- Share course materials with ALCTS and the PCC
- Prepare progress reports to the PCC Standing Committee on Training and
the ALCTS CCS Executive Committee at ALA Midwinter Meetings and Annual Conferences
- Develop and coordinate a pilot program using the course materials
- Refer policy issues which may arise to the PCC/CCS Committee on Continuing
Education Training Materials
Time frame:
- Initial reports due September 30, 2005.
- Pilot program (one module run-through) expected Annual 2006.
- Final program content expected Annual 2007.
