MSU Password Help Page

At MSU, we realize that it is difficult to keep all of your passwords straight. We are presently exploring solutions that will allow for fewer accounts and passwords. Until then, please use this password self-help page to set passwords for accounts you use frequently.

MyInfo Icon MyInfo

MyInfo allows access to personal information such as transcripts, class schedules, grades, financial aid packages, and pay stubs.

You will need your ID and PIN to login to MyINFO.

MSU Domain graphic MSU Domain Account

Also known as your Windows Domain Account. Common uses for this account are Wireless access, your “Z” Drive, Faculty and Staff email, VPN services, and Student Lab/SUB Computers.

NOTE: If you reset your MSU Domain Password you will need to log off your computer then log back on before using your new password.

MyMSU Portal bullet graphic MyMSU Portal

Your MyMSU Portal account is used for access to services such as student email, iClicker, and the Faculty Activity Database.

Your username will be displayed when you reset password via web.

Or, you can get your username from MyInfo:

  1. Browse to the MyInfo website.
  2. Click "Enter Secure Area". You will be prompted for ID and PIN.
  3. Click "Announcing MyMSU Portal"
  4. Your username will be listed under "HOW DO I ACCESS MyMSU PORTAL?"

Desire2Learn

Desire2Learn is MSU's newest Learning Management System and offers teaching and learning tools for course participation on-line via Internet.

For most students your Desire2Learn username will be the same as your MyMSU Portal username. If you are a student of an Extended University program your confirmation letter/email will contain your account information.

If your username contains a dot (jane.doe7 for example), then you may reset your password HERE

If your username does not contain a dot (smith0123 for example), then you may reset your password by contacting the Burns Technology Center at (406) 994-6550 or emailing ecat@montana.edu.


WebCT

WebCT is a web-based Learning Management System used for some classes. Note that WebCT accounts are sometimes not available until a few days after the beginning of a class.

To login to WebCT for the first time:

  1. Browse to webct.montana.edu and login.
  2. Username and Password will be your 8-digit ID (without the preceding minus sign).
  3. When prompted, change your password.

To reset your WebCT password:

  1. Login to webct.montana.edu.
  2. Click the "Password Settings" button on the top of your myWebCT screen.
  3. Change your password.

Library Accounts

For students, this is typically your MyMSU Portal account.

Banner Accounts

Banner accounts are typically for MSU employees only. To request a Banner account or reset a password, send email to bannersecurity@montana.edu.
