Speaker Biography: Heather McHugh's latest book of poems is "EYESHOT" (Wesleyan University Press 2003). She makes her home in Maine and teaches, at various times, at the University of Washington in Seattle, and in the master of fine arts program for writers at Warren Wilson College in Asheville N.C. McHugh has won awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, PEN (Voelcker Poetry Award), Wellesley College (Sara Teasdale Award), and, together with her husband, translator Nikolai Popov, the 2001 Griffin Prize for Poetry in the International Category.
