Speaker Biography: Marilyn Nelson?s collections of poetry include "The Homeplace," "Magnificat" and "The Fields of Praise: New and Selected Poems." She has also published two collections of verse for children. Her many honors include two Pushcart Prizes, two creative writing fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and a Fulbright Teaching Fellowship. Since 1978 she has taught English at the University of Connecticut, Storrs.
