About the Financial Reporting System Companies

  1. The number of FRS respondent companies in 2007 declined from 27 in 2006 to 25 in 2007 with the departure of three companies and the addition of one. In particular, Burlington Resources was acquired by ConocoPhillips Company and Kerr-McGee was acquired by Anadarko Petroleum. Dominion Resources sold of much of its oil and gas production assets and no longer met the selection criteria for the FRS. Alenco, the U.S. oil and gas production affiliate of EnCana Corporation, was added to the survey group due to its increased U.S. natural gas production.

  2. FRS companies' revenues equaled 14 percent of the revenues of the Fortune 500 corporations in 2007.

  3. FRS companies’ accounted for 42 percent of U.S. crude and NGL production, 43 percent of U.S. natural gas production, and 78 percent of U.S. refining capacity in 2007.
