Now in its seventh year, the 2008 HSF Alumni Hall of Fame Gala will be held at 6:30 p.m. (EDT) Wednesday, September 17, at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. 

HSF’s Alumni Hall of Fame (AHOF) was created in 2001 to inspire future generations of Latino college graduates by highlighting and honoring five outstanding Latinos, whose personal stories and accomplishments demonstrate the power of higher education. Each honoree’s success personifies and exemplifies the mission and values of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.

Honors are bestowed in five categories:

OPTIMISTA
The Optimist, for success achieved through persistence in the face of adversity.

Notable inductees into HSF’s AHOF to date include:  Héctor De Jesús Ruiz, President & CEO, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.; The Honorable Antonio O. Garza Jr., United States Ambassador to Mexico; The Honorable Dr. Richard H. Carmona, Surgeon General of the United States; The Honorable Federico Peña, Former U.S. Cabinet Secretary; Lisa Quiroz, Founding Publisher, People en Español; and Anthony D. Romero, Executive Director, American Civil Liberties Union.

Richard D. Parsons, Chairman of the Board, Time Warner Inc., will serve as Chair of the 2008 Alumni Hall of Fame Gala.
