HATCH HIRES JAY KHOSLA TO LEAD HEALTH CARE REFORM EFFORT

WASHINGTON – Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today announced Jay Khosla will be joining his Washington, D.C. office as Senior Health Counsel.

“I’m pleased to have Jay Khosla bringing his wealth of expertise and experience to our team,” said Hatch, a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, the two committees with jurisdiction over health care issues. “Jay’s first order of business will be to lead our health reform staff and work in Congress to develop meaningful health care reforms.”

Khosla has a long history of working on health care issues and finding creative solutions to problems. During the 2008 presidential campaign, he was Arizona Sen. John McCain’s senior health policy advisor. Prior to the campaign, he served as health counsel for the U.S. Senate Budget Committee, advising committee members on issues such as Medicare, the uninsured and under-insured, private market insurance reform and health information technology. He filled a similar role for former Senate Majority Leader William Frist.

“Working for Senator Hatch, who has led on legislation in so many vital health areas, is an honor,” Khosla said. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with Senator Hatch on many difficult issues such as improving health care delivery and making health care more affordable and portable for all Americans.”

The Fairfax, Va., native has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Virginia Commonwealth University and a juris doctorate from the University of Richmond’s law school. He also earned a master’s degree in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University’s medical school.
