Rule of Law in China

In monitoring and reporting on Chinese legal developments, the Commission takes a broad definition of "rule of law".

The Commission's legislative mandate directs it to monitor both: 1) the extent to which Chinese administrative and judicial decisions are based on written laws and regulations, and 2) the extent to which Chinese laws comply with the principles of limited government, individual rights, and democratic freedoms.

The Commission periodically prepares and updates short briefing papers and resource pages on various topics related to the rule of law in China. Click below for information on:
