The U. S. Senate Server
The United States
Senate server hosts
the web sites of each
individual U.S. Senator,
the Senate committees,
and other support
services. Therefore,
the committee's privacy
policy inherits the
security and privacy
practices of the central
Senate server. For
site management, the
Senate server collects
information for statistical
purposes. The government
computer system software
uses programs to create
the summary statistics,
which are used for
such purposes as assessing
what information is
of most and least
interest, determining
technical design specifications,
and identifying system
performance or problem
areas. The following
is a list of specific
information that is
collected when you
visit any United States
Senate web site:
1. The domain from
which you access the
Senate web site.
2. The date and time
of your visit
3. The address of
the web site, if any,
that provide the link
from which you reached
the site.
For site
security purposes
and to ensure that
this service remains
available to all users,
this government computer
system employs software
programs to monitor
network traffic to
identify unauthorized
attempts to upload
or change information,
or otherwise cause
damage.
Except for authorized
law enforcement investigations,
no other attempts
are made to identify
individual users or
their usage habits.
Raw data logs are
used for no other
purposes and are scheduled
for regular destruction
in accordance with
National Archives
and Records Administration
guidelines.
For more information,
please access the
U.S. Senate Security
and Privacy Notice.
External Links
The Senate Committee
on Environment and
Public Works web site
has links to other
useful sites on the
Internet, including
sites of other government
agencies and sites
relating to the activities
of the committee.
If you follow any
link that takes you
to a URL location
other than senate.gov,
you have left the
Senate web server
and will need to refer
to that site's own
privacy policy.
Thank you for taking
the time to review
this policy. Please
remember to contact
the committee if you
have any further questions.
