Senator Akaka Launches Military Financial Education Campaign in Honolulu

Other Financial Forums for Hawaii Residents set for Kauai and the Big Island

Washington, D.C. - As the Ranking Democrat on the Readiness Subcommittee in Armed Services, Senator Daniel K. Akaka will be launching a comprehensive financial education campaign on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 in Honolulu. Sponsored by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) Investor Education Foundation, in cooperation with the Department of Defense, the campaign is designed to help military personnel and their families manage their money with confidence. Senator Akaka is launching the first of such programs that will be conducted across the country.

What: Military Financial Education Forum

When: Wednesday, April 12, 2006

10:30 a.m. Program

Where: Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu

Senator Akaka is also, as he did last year on Maui and Oahu, co-sponsoring free forums in Lihue and Hilo to help residents better understand investing in securities. Joining Senator Akaka in this effort are the NASD, the Hawaii State Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and the Hawaii Council on Economic Education.

On Tuesday, April 11th, the NASD Investor Forum will take place at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Thursday, April 13th, two sessions will take place at Hilo's Nani Mau Gardens from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All the programs are free.
