Isakson, Chambliss Announce Funds for Georgia Schools

WASHINGTON— U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) today announced final congressional approval of the fiscal year 2006 funding bill for the Departments of State, Justice and Commerce as well as science-related agencies. The bill includes funding for math, science and engineering programs at several Georgia schools.

“I am pleased to announce these important funds for Georgia,” said Isakson. “ This funding will help Georgia students to succeed in the critical fields of science, math and engineering.”

“I am pleased to see the expansion of science related programs in these Georgia schools,” Chambliss said.   “Not only will the education these students receive be strengthened as a result of this funding, many more students will have access to the vital services they need to learn and lead productive lives.”

The bill includes funding for the following Georgia schools:

  • $100,000 for Albany Technical College for a technology, math and engineering program
  • $150,000 for Muscogee County Schools for math and science programs
  • $250,000 for Albany State University for project “Jump Start,” a math and science education enhancement program
  • $150,000 for Andrew College for a rural math, science and engineering program
