School Prospers Despite Past Violence

CAMP TAJI — The Huda Girls’ School in Tarmiyah, northwest of Baghdad, officially reopened its doors with a ceremony featuring speeches, poems and songs, Jan. 5.

The school provides education to approximately 950 girls, who attend at various times throughout the day to accommodate the valuable education opportunity.

The Soldiers assigned to the 27th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division identified candidates for the exam during a visit to the al-Amal school for the deaf, which is located in the town of Ar-Rumythan, about an hour north of Samawah in southern Iraq.

 
ISF Thwart Rashid Terrorist Attack

BAGHDAD — Iraqi Security Forces prevented a terrorist attack and discovered a pipe bomb in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad, Jan. 6.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. in the Hadar community, Iraqi National Police officers from the 1st Battalion, 7th Brigade, 2nd NP Division, spotted a “sticky” bomb attached to the undercarriage of vehicle and immediately evacuated the Iraqi family.
