TRADOC Commanding General, Gen. William S. Wallace

In a speech to the 2008 graduating class of the United States Military Preparatory School at Fort Monmouth, N.J., the TRADOC Commanding General, Gen. William S. Wallace gave future West Point cadets a unique perspective on Army Strong leadership.

General Wallace relayed his leadership philosophy to future Army officers conveyed through the works of Dr. Seuss; both timeless and classic.

Sgt. 1st Class Michelle R. Smith assigned to Fort Eustis, Va. was awarded the title of TRADOC Active Duty Career Counselor of the Year.

TRADOC tags top retention troops

Their job is to keep good Soldiers in uniform and, according to U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, they’re among the best.

Sgt. 1st Class Michelle R. Smith, an active-duty NCO assigned to Fort Eustis, Va., and Staff Sgt. Dawna N. Brown, a National Guard Soldier assigned to Fort Knox, Ky., were recently awarded the title of TRADOC Career Counselor of the Year for their respective service components. Staff Sgt. Stephanie D. Miller, a former drill sergeant assigned to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., now holds the title of TRADOC Retention NCO of the Year.

Commandant directs CGSC students to engage media

Students attending the Command and General Staff College's Intermediate Level Education course are becoming more familiar with the media than ever before.

"There are instantaneous communications taking place around the world and we need to figure out how to take advantage of that opportunity instead of looking at it as a nemesis," said CGSC Commandant Lt. Gen. William Caldwell IV.

Army to open preparatory school for prospective Soldiers

The U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) will open the Army Preparatory School Aug. 4 at Fort Jackson, S.C., to give qualifying young men and women an opportunity to earn their General Educational Development (GED) credentials before they begin Basic Combat Training (BCT).

The four-week pilot course will be open only to recruits without a high school diploma and who have scored in the top 50 percentile on the military aptitude test and meet or exceed all other physical and character standards for becoming high-performing Soldiers. The ultimate goal of the program is for qualifying students to earn full-fledged high school diplomas.
