Kerry Statement on Small Business Chief Nomination Vote

Today the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship voted unanimously to forward the nomination of Steven C. Preston to head the Small Business Administration for consideration by the full Senate. The Senate is expected to vote on the nomination tonight. Following is a statement by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), top Democrat on the Committee:

“We’re down to our last at bat with this Administration. Steve Preston has the opportunity to turn things around at the SBA to help small businesses win,” said Kerry. “I am hopeful Mr. Preston can accomplish this with his management and business experience. This Administration needs to put small businesses first and work everyday to foster entrepreneurship throughout every community, especially those that are underserved. Working together with a firm commitment from Mr. Preston, we can make sure our entrepreneurs have every tool they need to keep America competitive and create jobs here at home.”
