Lola Germon Brumidi Family Album

Brumidi Photograph Album

These portraits of Constantino Brumidi and his Italian daughter Elena, taken in Rome before Brumidi immigrated to the United States in 1852, are from the "Lola Germon Brumidi Family Album." The album was donated to the U.S. Senate Collection by Mildred Thompson, great-grandniece of Brumidi’s American wife (Lola) and a founding member of the Historical Society of the U.S. Capitol.

Elena was 20 years old when her father left Italy. She corresponded with her father monthly and he regularly sent money to her, according to Constantino Brumidi: Artist of the Capitol. Elena visited her father in Washington in 1871.
