For Immediate Release:

The Bush Administration has proposed slashing $1.3 billion from federal student loan programs. This plan would prevent students from consolidating their loans at a fixed rate – a move that could cost graduates an additional $10,000 over the life of their loans.

Senator Murray spoke against the proposal at a press conference on Capitol Hill. (05/02/02)
