Dear Friend –
Congress is preparing to update the No Child Left
Behind Act, and I need your input.
I want to make sure that you have a voice in this
debate.
I can't promise that we'll be able to fix everything.
Frankly, given the President's recent call for more vouchers, I'm
concerned that it's going to be an uphill battle just to get the
Administration to see the problems that local educators have shared
with me.
But I'm going to fight to bring the voices of those
on the frontlines to the debates in Congress . . . and that means
I need your input.
I'm sending you this Education Update
so we can start a conversation that will help our students. Please
forward this to friends, who can sign up here.
Over the past few months, I've sat down with educators,
parents, students and administrators to hear about their suggestions
for reauthorizing NCLB.
Earlier this year, I met with more than 40 Washington
state educators who came to Congress with suggestions for NCLB reform.
But I realize that you may not have an opportunity
to come to D.C. to share your ideas, so I've been holding roundtables
throughout our state. Today I'm launching an NCLB
Comment Form on my website – so you can share your ideas
directly with me.
I want to be able to use your stories and examples
in Senate floor debates, committee hearings, on my website and in
future e-mails like this one, so please fill
out the form and give me permission to share your comments with
others.
Sincerely,
