Senator Murray meets with Thomas Hansen, MD, President and the new CEO of Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, Seattle. Senator Murray met with doctors, nurses, parents and health professionals at the Center to discuss Medicaid, a federal healthcare program. The Bush Administration and Republican Congress is trying to cut funding for Medicaid. Senator Murray opposes those cuts because they will make it harder for Washington families to get healthcare. If Medicaid is cut, there will be fewer pediatric specialists, nursing homes will close and rural emergency rooms will have to shut their doors.
