Week of December 3rd, 2007
The Senate will convene at 2:00pm today and will be morning business, with Senators permitted to speak for up to 10 minutes each. There will be no votes today. The next vote is possible on Tuesday.. There will also be no votes on Monday, December 10.
The Majority Leader has indicated that the Senate will move to the U.S. - Peru free trade agreement today.
Tuesday and Balance of the Week:
The Senate schedule is very unclear at this point. The Senate will continue to debate the U.S. - Peru free trade agreement and that vote is expected on Tuesday at 2:15pm.
The Senate could also begin consideration of legislation to extend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act this week. There is also talk of another vote this week relating to Iraq.
-Policy Lunch will take place on Tuesday from 12:30 - 2:15pm in S-207.
-Also, there will be a meeting of the Republican Conference on Thursday, December 6, at 9:30am in the Mansfield Room (S-207).
LOOK AHEAD:
Other possible items to look for in the next few weeks include any Appropriations bills not yet completed, an Energy package (House will likely take up on Wed.), the Farm bill (still no agreement yet), an Alternative Minimum Tax fix bill and other extensions of expiring tax provisions. Also, a reminder that the current CR expires on Dec. 14th.
