The Superintendent of Documents, under the direction of the Public
Printer, is responsible for taking the Biennial Survey of Depository
Libraries, required by 44 U.S.C. Section 1909. All Depository Libraries are legally required to complete this survey.
The Biennial Survey
provides GPO with important information concerning the conditions of
both individual depository libraries and the depository library program
as a whole. This data is used to administer the program and to assist
in the assessments of the conditions and services of depository
libraries.
