Vitter Announces the Addition of 26 New Parishes as Part of the President’s Disaster Declaration

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today announced that 26 additional parishes have been added to the president’s disaster declaration in the wake of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. 

          Those additional parishes designated from Gustav are Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Franklin, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Orleans, Rapides, Sabine, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Terrebonne and Vermilion. 

         The additional Ike designated parishes consist of: Acadia, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Iberia, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafourche, Plaquemines, Sabine, St. Mary, Terrebonne, Vermilion and Vernon.

         This public assistance declaration will allow federal funding to go to state and local governments in additional to select private nonprofit organizations for emergency work and repair of disaster-damaged facilities.
